WEEK 11: DANSKE BANK PREMIERSHIP PREVIEW

Release Date: 12/10/2012

THE Danske Bank Premiership returns to action this weekend with six terrific games.

Fresh from their victory at Windsor Park against the Champions, Ballinamallard United are quickly becoming a force in the Danske Bank Premiership and they welcome Oran Kearney’s Coleraine to Ferney Park, who will be looking to bounce back from their extra-time IRN-BRU League Cup defeat to Linfield during the week.

Ballymena United and Glenavon meet at the Showgrounds and will both be looking for three valuable points to get their season’s back on track.

It is the North Belfast derby at Seaview where the Crues hope to take three valuable points from league leaders Cliftonville.  The Reds, however, have been in dominant form this season and can send a message to the rest of the league if they can take the spoils against Stephen Baxter’s men.

It is a basement battle at Suffolk Road as Donegal Celtic welcome Lisburn Distillery.  Both teams are desperate for points and whilst DC have home advantage, Distillery scored nine goals in their IRN-BRU League Cup tie on Tuesday and look to have found their shooting boots again.

Champions Linfield face a tricky journey to Dungannon Swifts’ Stangmore Park as they play Darren Murphy’s side who have proved a tough game for everyone this season.  The Blues will need to get their Premiership campaign up and running very soon if they are to have any chance of defending their trophy, but the Swifts will have taken confidence from the Mallards win against Linfield last week and hope to pile more misery on the men from Windsor Park.

Glentoran versus Portadown is always a close game and this weekend’s fixture will undoubtedly be the same.  Portadown have scored more goals than the Glens but find themselves trailing Eddie Patterson’s side by seven points, whereas Glentoran have produced a level of consistency that was lacking last season and look like genuine contenders for a title challenge.

All games kick-off at 3pm.
