IRISH FA STATEMENT ON NEWRY CITY FC LTD

THE BOARD of the Irish Football Association met this afternoon to consider the implications of the winding up order made against Newry City FC Ltd in the High Court in Belfast on Thursday, 20 September 2012.

 

The Board determined that Newry City FC Ltd’s membership of the Association be suspended.  Newry City FC Ltd (and all affiliated teams within the club)are not permitted to participate in any affiliated football matches or activity whilst under suspension.

Whilst the Board recognise that the control of the business, assets and property of Newry City FC Limited are now placed under the direction of the Official Receiver, the Association will correspond with the directors of Newry City FC Ltd to establish the intentions of the company to appeal the winding up order, which falls within the scope of the powers retained by the company directors.
