Ballymena United Football Club has set a record for the longest shirt sponsorship in British football history after the Danske Bank Premiership club signed a new agreement with McBurney Transport, taking the longstanding sponsorship into its 25th year.
The new deal for the 2012/13 season makes the shirt sponsorship the longest running in British football after the club’s initial deal with the Northern Ireland-based haulage firm began in 1987.
As a result of the new deal, Ballymena United now has the third longest running shirt sponsorship deal in world football, beaten by only PSV Eindhoven (Philips, 1982 – present) and Celta Vigo (Citroen, 1986 – present).
To celebrate the historical partnership, McBurney Transport has commissioned special artwork featuring Ballymena United players from the last 25 years to be displayed on a new special edition Volvo truck. Ballymena United Football Club
